Enriched system visibility in the SUSE Customer Center
SUSE is committed to helping you gain better insights into your usage of SUSE subscriptions regardless of where your systems are running; whether physical or virtual, on-prem or in the cloud.
To that end, we’ve been working on several improvements to the SUSE Customer Center (SCC), RMT, and SUSE Manager to provide you with a clearer picture of your system landscape. Today, we are sharing that:
- SUSE Manager v4.1+ now sends system information to SCC. Read more about it in Don Vosburg’s blog post, SUSE Manager 4.x Adds System Details to SCC.
- SCC now captures which products are activated on systems that sit behind RMT or SMT.
- The upcoming v0.3.36 release of SUSEConnect will enable systems to send SCC/RMT a daily heartbeat to confirm the system’s active status and update its information. This will help you identify or filter out systems in SCC that are no longer running. For more information about this update, we invite you to read the documentation.
Note: This feature will be released and automatically enabled on SLE 12 SP4 and up. The choice is yours; you can disable the daily heartbeat by disabling the suseconnect-keepalive systemd timer.
We will continue improving our products to make it easier for you to view and manage your subscription consumption. As always, we’d love to hear your feedback about these improvements and any ideas you might have.
