As the world’s largest independent open source company, SUSE helps customers, partners and communities be the difference in their spheres of influence.

Each year, SUSE hosts our annual customer conference,  SUSECON.  This year, due to the challenges of COVID19,  we have opted to transform our flagship, in-person event into a DIGITAL experience.  However, one thing will remain the same – like in previous years, we’ll have a robust lineup of technical sessions that will be delivered by our SUSE Team and our partners.   This year we are pleased to feature more public cloud sessions, including 7 sessions from our “Yottabyte” Sponsor, Microsoft.

HPC + AI for everyone – with Microsoft Azure [favorite this session:  SPO-1474]

HPC has historically been an on-prem business and until the last few years, was viewed as questionable as to whether HPC could really meet performance and price point expectations that on prem customers have been used to for decades. Two years ago, we made changed our strategy and intentionally changed our design point to on prem price / performance metrics. Over the last 1 ½ years we have started to publicly share benchmarks validating the ability to Microsoft Azure to meet, and even exceed in some cases, the price / performance that were once limited to on prem clusters. In this talk we will walk through some of our latest benchmarks, using SUSE with Azure HPC, share customers examples of where HPC in the cloud is becoming a reality, and also briefly cover the convergence of HPC + AI.

This session will cover the installation, configuration, testing, and operation of SUSE high availability extension clusters in Azure, especially for SAP workloads. We will discuss how to install and configure these systems and will demo some of the commands and features in a live system.
