We are happy to announce the availability of our PCI DSS Guide for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12. But let’s start from the beginning. (If you cannot wait here are the direct links to the guide (HTML/PDF).

With the commercial success of the internet era, the major credit card companies bound forces to protect against online payment card fraud. In December 2004 PCI DSS 1.0 was published as a unified security standard, to provide a compliance standard how merchants have to secure customer data.

Over the last decade the standard was frequently updated to address new emerging security risks and is now available in version 3.2 that was published in April 2016.

The SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 PCI DSS Guide gives a basic introduction how to configure a system securely to meet the listed requirements. It is available as HTML or PDF.

Feel free to send us your feedback about this guide to security@suse.de.
