SUSE Studio for Multi-Architecture Development
Guest Post by Brett Waldman, Senior Research Analyst, IDC
The hottest buzzword today is obviously “cloud” but if we take a step back in time to the 1960’s the hottest buzzword in tech would be “Mainframe.” Mainframes aren’t as sexy as they used to be, but they are still an important part of an enterprises datacenter today and for the foreseeable future. That is why it is important to have tools that can support an application development lifecycle for multiple architectures.
With the latest release of SUSE Studio, SUSE is attempting to bring just that type of tool to the enterprise. By integrating x86, Mainframe, and cloud development into a single authoring tool, enterprises can standardize development processes and policies across architectures.
SUSE maintains that developers will be able to get started with SUSE Studio in just a matter of minutes, have a single source for documentation, and version control. And for customers that are looking to migrate Mainframe applications to the cloud, SUSE Studio can ease that transition as the different versions can all be developed and maintained using a single tool.
