In today’s IT landscape, customers are looking for flexible, reliable, and scalable solutions that are easy to operate to make the most of their infrastructure. Even in today’s ever-changing IT landscape, Virtual Machines (VMs) remain a key part of every data center around the world. This is largely due to the ease of managing large environments with a single management plane, making the most of physical hardware, and offering flexibility and scalability.

However, the future is here, and it’s all about containers. New methods of deployment and coding applications have emerged, and location is no longer a constraint. Whether your applications are on-premises, in the cloud, or scattered globally, containers are here to stay.

The Advantages of Containers

  • Lightweight: Containers allow for better infrastructure utilization.
  • Efficient Development: Application development has evolved, making incremental updates and rollouts easier to test, implement, and deploy.
  • Minimal Overheads: Containers offer minimal overheads and zero impact on user experience.

Fujitsu and SUSE: Your Cloud-Native Journey

Fujitsu and SUSE are committed to helping customers transition to cloud-native environments with our joint Kubernetes offering. This solution runs on PRIMERGY servers with a full SUSE software stack, available in two variants: Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and Bare Metal. Both options are future-proof, featuring GPU-enabled nodes and NVMe class disks.

Consultancy and Support

Through consultancy, Fujitsu can help customers determine the best infrastructure for their specific needs. Our offering includes 1st and 2nd level support, working closely with SUSE to address customer needs.

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)

The HCI variant includes:

  • Three FUJITSU PRIMERGY RX2540 servers
  • SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server
  • SUSE® Rancher Prime
  • SUSE® Storage
  • SUSE® Virtualization

This setup can support up to 50 virtual Kubernetes nodes, providing a robust starting point for your cloud-native journey.

Bare Metal

The Bare Metal variant includes:

  • Three FUJITSU PRIMERGY RX2530 management nodes
  • Three FUJITSU PRIMERGY RX2540 worker nodes
  • SUSE® Rancher Prime
  • SUSE® Storage

This configuration is ideal for customers looking to start their cloud-native journey with a solid foundation.

Flexibility and Scalability

Fujitsu will help customers make the journey, but it’s up to customers to decide when they migrate their legacy applications to containers. With Fujitsu servers and SUSE® Virtualization, customers can keep some of their legacy VMs running alongside containers in certain scenarios.

Enterprise-Ready Solution

Our offering is a full-blown enterprise-ready solution, designed with fault tolerance and high availability in mind. Starting at three nodes on the HCI variant and six on the Bare Metal, it’s easy to scale in both variants and future-proof for AI workloads with 25GBs network, NVMe class disks, and GPU-enabled nodes.

Seamless Management with SUSE® Virtualization

SUSE® Virtualization allows you to manage multiple Kubernetes distributions across various locations, from cloud to edge, through a single interface. This makes it easy to use and tailored to our customers’ needs.

Fujitsu’s uSCALE Pay-As-You-Grow Model

In addition to our new Kubernetes offering, Fujitsu provides special pricing under the uSCALE pay-as-you-grow model. This model allows your infrastructure to grow with your business without upfront investments, impacting the overall design of your preferred solution.

The uSCALE offering includes:

  • A dedicated Customer Success Manager
  • Access to the uSCALE Customer Success Portal for tracking consumption, billing, sustainability metrics, forecasting, and more
