SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is the first enterprise Linux available in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US) Region. Already available on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), the SUSE® platform's expansion to AWS GovCloud (US) provides U.S. government agencies and their patrons a highly reliable, scalable and secure enterprise-class Linux platform for their development, test and production workloads. Federal government users running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on the AWS GovCloud (US) Region can take advantage of the cost savings and flexibility of a public cloud environment by easily moving and managing heavily regulated workloads while remaining compliant with federal requirements.
"SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is an ideal platform for enterprise applications, high-performance computing and analytics—key federal government use cases running on AWS GovCloud," said Doug Jarvis, Cloud Solutions marketing manager for SUSE. "Powering half of the world's largest supercomputing clusters and as the leading platform for SAP solutions on Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server has demonstrated its capabilities in the most demanding of computing environments."
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server can scale-up and scale-out to meet system and workload needs. It is certified on 4,096 logical CPUs and 64 TiB of RAM and contains the OFED stack for low-latency inter-machine communication. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server can be relied on for handling sensitive information and meeting defined standards, having been awarded the Common Criteria Certification EAL 4+ and received U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 validation for its OpenSSL module, in addition to being an ITAR-compliant solution.
Whether running new applications or moving existing applications to the cloud, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server offers U.S. government agencies a versatile Linux platform that is built to power mission-critical workloads and has more than 10,000 certified applications from more than 1,800 independent software vendors.
