netstat -i throws warning message

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3

Situation

With 'netstat -i' on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3 the warning " warning: no inet socket available: No such file or directory" is printed to stdout:

# netstat -i
warning: no inet socket available: No such file or directory

Resolution

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Service Pack 3 there's no solution to prohibit the warning. However the message is not based on a problem and doesn't cause one either. The warning can be safely ignored. The warning was removed on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Service Pack 4
