Bind reporting named[17907]: socket: too many open file descriptors

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3

Situation

DNS caching server fails with these errors in the /var/log/messages.

Error logs:
Jun 13 16:35:12 named[17907]: socket: too many open file descriptors
Jun 13 16:35:12 named[17907]: socket: too many open file descriptors
Jun 13 16:35:12 named[17907]: socket: too many open file descriptors

Resolution

Updating to SLES 10 SP4 resolved the issue.
