Environment
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications Service Pack 3
Situation
starting corosync service:
error: watchdog_init_fd: Cannot open watchdog device '/dev/watchdog': Device or resource busy (16)”
Resolution
Cause
IPMI Watchdog: driver initialized in messages file grabbing a hold of /dev/watchdog, this required removing ipmi modules.
After removing IPMI modules the /dev/watchdog was Indicating that watchdog was still in use.
An lsof /dev/watchdog indicated that systemd was now accessing /dev/watchdog.
This required commenting out the watchdog options from /etc/systemd/system.conf.
