Running site.yml to deploy cloud fails - msg: Sorry, no shrinking of root without force=yes

This document (7023778) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE OpenStack Cloud 8

Situation

Running the ardana command site.yml to set up cloud nodes failes with following error messages:

2019-03-19 10:02:47,818 p=25583 u=ardana |  failed: [ardana-cp1-c1-m3] => (item=({'physical_volumes':
['/dev/sda_root'], 'consumer': {'name': 'os'}, 'name': 'ardana-vg'}, {'mount': '/', 'fstype': 'ext4',
'name': 'root', 'size': '20%'})) => {"failed": true, "item": [{"consumer": {"name": "os"}, "name":
"ardana-vg", "physical_volumes": ["/dev/sda_root"]}, {"fstype": "ext4", "mount": "/", "name": "root",
"size": "20%"}]}
2019-03-19 10:02:47,818 p=25583 u=ardana |  msg: Sorry, no shrinking of root without force=yes

Resolution

Increasing the given disk size or change the percentage in disk model accordingly.

Example:
Given disk size is 295gb
percentage in your disk model for the logical root volume is 10%
the resulting/calculated volume size is below 30gb as it was created running bm-reimage.yml.

Cause

The logical volume "root" usually has a size about 30gb. But within the disk model the percentage
given will generate a size lower than 30gb if disk size is too small. Shrinking isn't supported.
