SUSE Liberty Linux Procurement and Implementation Process on AWS

Situation

SUSE Liberty Linux is available on the AWS Marketplace: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-sb3y3khe5utw6

Resolution

Customer Procurement Process:

  1. Evaluate business case, determining quantity of CentOS instances, and term (e.g. 1-year, 3-year)

  2. Inquire by emailing cloudsales@suse.com with the following information:
    • AWS Account ID
    • Company Name
    • Contact Person
    • Email Address
    • Quantity and Term
  3. Private Offer: SUSE quotes private offer for customer approval, SUSE issues private offer, and customer signs private offer
  4. Apply AWS Credits: Check with AWS for eligibility.  SUSE assists eligible customers to request credits from AWS to be applied to EC2 instances. 

Customer Implementation Process:

  1. Activate: Receive registration code from SUSE and activate SUSE Liberty Linux subscription in the SUSE Customer Center
  2. Switch: Install and confirm RMT server, register each CentOS or RHEL instance to RMT server (optionally use SUSE Manager for registration)
  3. Validate: Check the validation status (SUSEConnect --status-text) 
  4. Operate: Manage SUSE Linux Liberty , optionally use SUSE Manager, optionally migrate to SLE in the future
