Support for PCIe hotplugging

This document (7001789) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

The system doesn't see all hardware attached through hotpluggable PCI-E bridges.

Resolution

SLES 9 does not support this type of hotplugging. The hotplug driver does not recognize hotplug ports on such bridges, so the system will not see the hardware.

For hotplugging to work on this type of hardware, it is necessary to use SLES 10 or later products.
