Western Digital drives are not detected by the isci driver

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2

Situation

When a Western Digital SAS drive is attached to an Intel C600 Series on-board SAS SCU controller the drive will not appear because of COMSAS negotiation timeout.

Resolution

The following Western Digital drives contain a buggy firmware and should not be used:

WD1000FYYG
WD2000FYYG
WD3000BKHG
WD6000BKHG

Additional Information

Above hard disks reached their End-of-life and cannot be purchased any more.
