Intel X710 based NIC is not detected

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP1

Situation

Intel X710 based NIC is not detected.  The NIC could be identified by following output from lspci:

Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Controller x710 for 10GBASE-T
Vendor ID: 8086
Device ID: 15FF

Resolution

Fixed in Security update for the Linux Kernel -kernel-default-4.12.14-197.29.1.x86_64.rpm (Dec 17 2019) or later.

The following installation kit from SUSE Linux Enterprise Server can be used for network-based deployments for DellEMC PowerEdge systems with Intel x710 NIC: DellEMC PowerEdge Installation Kit

Cause

The i40e driver did not have the proper enablement to detect the NIC.
