This document (000021381) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 all Service Packs

Situation

When executing the command zypper list-patches on the affected server, a prompt asking for the credentials for the user "SCC_66b47xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" is returned.

If one skips to the end without inserting a password,  the following error is returned:

Problem retrieving the repository index file for service 'Server_Applications_Module_15_SP4_x86_64':
Login failed. (https://scc.suse.com/access/services/2242/repo/repoindex.xml?cookies=0&credentials=Server_Applications_Module_15_SP4_x86_64): The requested URL returned error: 401

Resolution

Clear the SCC registration from the server and register it to SCC again:
# SUSEConnect --de-register
# SUSEConnect --cleanup# update-ca-certificates
# SUSEConnect --regcode <your_SCC_registration_code>
# zypper ref -s
zypper list-patches should now return the list of available patches for the system.
