Updating a Linux system fails with JFS filesystem

Environment
Situation
Resolution
The JFS filesystem needs to be unmounted cleanly from the old system before upgrading to SLES10. In case the SLES9 system does not shut down properly, the rescue system of the installation disk of either version can be used to run fsck.jfs manually on the affected filesystem.
Additional Information
The installation system on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1 is planned to have an installation system which runs fsck.jfs before mounting a JFS filesystem.
