RealVNC aborts connection to qemu-kvm processes

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP3

Situation

Access via RealVNC to a qemu-kvm process to access the virtual machine VNC console results in a connection abort.

Resolution

Customers experiencing this issue should contact SUSE Technical Services for a PTF (Program Temporary Fix).

Cause

The connection is opened by the client using a 8bit color depth request and and a request for the color_map. In its reply the server does not offer a color_map which the client treats as error and closes the connection.
