Allow local user on the remote system to view a ssh session

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)
openSUSE

Situation

You have used ssh to connect to a remote system. Joe user is sitting at the remote system and would like to see the changes you will make to fix the problem.

Resolution

Connect to the remote host using ssh. When you have established the connection enter the following command:

screen -a

Have the user that is sitting at the remote system open a terminal window and enter the following command:

screen -x

You should both be seeing the same terminal now. If not, it may be necessary for the user at the remote system to press Ctrl-a or Ctrl-d (see the man pages for 'screen' (man screen) for more information).
