tunefs.ocfs2 does not handle symbolic link

This document (7005445) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11

Situation

Using symbolic link instead the real device name will cause an error:

# tunefs.ocfs2 -L newname /dev/vg1/lv01
tunefs.ocfs2: Configuration error discovered while opening device "/dev/vg1/lv1"

Resolution

This is currently being evaluated by development and may be resolved in a future release.
Please use the proper device name instead of the symbolic link in the meantime.

e.g. instead of /dev/vg1/lv01 use /dev/mapper/vg1-lv01
