This document (7010685) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2

Situation

Upon "mount -a" or "mount -a nfs" a segmentation fault occurs.

Resolution

There is a code fix for this, but there is also an easy configurational correction which solves it.

Code fix
Within maintenance updates for SLES 11 SP2, apply util-linux 2.19.1-6.33.35.1

Configurational Correction
Check /etc/fstab.  Most likely, an entry is present to accomplish an NFS mount, which doesn't have any mount options specified.  For example, it might be in this form:

server:/path    /local-path    nfs

Add a 4th column as mount parameters.  This can even be just "defaults".  I.E.:

server:/path    /local-path    nfs   defaults
