CVE-2017-6074: Local privilege escalation due to double free in dccp code

This document (7018645) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

An exploitable vulnerability in the DCCP (Datagram Congestion Control Protocol) networking code was found, which
allows a local user to execute arbitrary code within ring 0 and elevate privileges to root.

Resolution

The only affected version is SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. Customers with a current Long Term Service Pack Support (LTSS) contract should contact SUSE for a PTF. Status for newer SLES versions are as follows:

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP 1 and 2:

DCCP protocol is not built into the kernel versions at all thus no SLES12 versions are affected.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP 1 to 4:

DCCP protocol is built but not supported and not installed by default. It is only available via the EXTRAS repository.
