This document (3535361) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

Apache 2.2 on SLES 10 uses the default user wwwrun and group www to perform apache tasks. In some cases, a user may want to change this user and group.

Resolution

Edit the /etc/apache2/uid.conf file. In this file you will find 2 lines:

User wwwrun
Group www

Change these values to a valid system user and group and restart apache with the command "rcapache2 restart"
