Grub Error 15

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
Service Pack 3

Situation

While running YOU to get updates a memory error occured. After rebooting the server Grub is reporting an ERROR 15.

Resolution

The patches installed a new kernel and the initrd was not updated properly. After running mkinitrd the server booted normally.

Additional Information

To run mkinitrd:
1 - Boot off of CD 1
2 - Choose Install and accept all agreements and language prompts
3 - Choose Boot Installed System
4 - Login as root
5 - At a command prompt run "mkinitrd"
6 - Reboot
