SYSSTAT man page reports incorrect file location

This document (7000432) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9

Situation

man sa1 and man sa2 report the incorrect location of the sysstat data file.

Resolution

The man pages for these two commands indicate that the data is saved to a file called:

/var/log/sa/sadd (where dd=day of the month)

However these two commands actually store their data in files named:

/var/log/sa/sa.YYYY_mm_dd (where YYYY is year, mm is the month and dd is the day)

Additional Information

Several Linux distibutions, including SUSE and Red Hat based distributions store the sysstat data files in other locations different from the upstream community. Future version of the man pages will reflect the correct location.
