Java Web Applets Don't Run

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11

Situation

After initial (default) install of SLE11, Java web applets don't run.

Resolution

On 64-bit systems, the java plugin is not installed by default.

Use YaST | Software | Software Management to search for and install the appropriate plugin. I.e., java-1_6_0-sun-plugin-1.6.0.u12-4.5 for the java-1_6_0-sun-1.6.0.u12-4.5 package.

NOTE: this is specific to 64-bit systems only.
