apache2 mod_authnz_ldap fails on passwords with special characters

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 4

Situation

When using special characters in passwords, the apache2 module mod_authnz_ldap may fail with:

[Fri Oct 28 15:42:50 2011] [warn] [client ::1] [26934] auth_ldap authenticate:
user test authentication failed; URI /LDAPauth/ [ldap_simple_bind_s() to check
user credentials failed][Invalid credentials]
[Fri Oct 28 15:42:50 2011] [error] [client ::1] user test: authentication
failure for "/LDAPauth/": Password Mismatch

Resolution

Please update to apache2-2.2.3-16.42.2 or later.
