System search returns no results for some systems

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.3

Situation

When running an advanced search for systems via the web user interface (ui) some systems are simply not found, without any specific errors being seen / logged. The systems are also not found when performing a search from the command line with:
 
spacecmd system_search hostname:<insert_system_name>

Resolution

Run as root the following command:
 
rhn-search cleanindex

Cause

The problem is due to an inconsistent search index.
