After updating RHEL 7 client via SUMA, venv-salt-minion service fails to start.

SUSE Manager 4.3

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9

Situation

After updating the RHEL 7.9 client with SUSE Manager (SUMA), the "venv-salt-minion.service" fails as follows:

# systemctl status venv-salt-minion

Dec 3 16:48:13 rhel79 systemd: venv-salt-minion.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=203/EXEC
Dec 3 16:48:13 rhel79 systemd: Unit venv-salt-minion.service entered failed state.
Dec 3 16:48:13 rhel79 systemd: venv-salt-minion.service failed.

Resolution

The problem can be solved by downgrading one version to venv-salt-minion-3006.0-2.58.1.x86_64. For example:

rpm -Uvh --oldpackage venv-salt-minion-3006.0-2.58.1.x86_64.rpm
Preparing... ################################# [100%]
Updating / installing...
1:venv-salt-minion-3006.0-2.58.1 ################################# [ 50%]
Cleaning up / removing...
2:venv-salt-minion-3006.0-2.61.1 ################################# [100%]
