PCI Bridge not detected by SLES operating system

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

At the BIOS level a PCI SCSI controller is detected.
Neither HWINFO or LSPCI show information about the SCSI controller after boot up.
LSPCI output shows the PCI Bridge for the SCSI controller is not detected.

Resolution

ACPI=OFF was set in the /boot/grub/menu.lst for the active booting kernel. This option needs to be removed for proper PCI Bridge discovery. Once the PCI Bridge is discovered, the SCSI controller associated with that bridge should also be detected.
