Why isn't DBus restarted after it has been patched ?

This document (7021556) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 12

Situation

The DBus package is upgraded, but it is still showing the previous version.

Resolution

When a restart of DBus is required, this needs to be achieved by rebooting  the machine.

Cause

It is currently not supported to restart the DBus service using Systemd

Additional Information

In certain cases however, restarting the DBus service may work, however since most applications also do not support restarting DBus, this is neither recommended, nor supported.
