Here When You Need Us

ordered false" group attribute seems not to be adhered to (HEARTBEAT)

This document (7000010) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

After setup of cluster the setting of the group attribute "ordered false" is expected to remove the order from a heartbeat2 group. It does not. Assuming there are 3 resources

group1 (ordered false)
IP_adress
mount
application

Stopping of the "mount" should not affect "application" but it does. If "mount" is stopped manually then "application" is stopped by the cluster as well. So the cluster behaves like

group1 (ordered true)
IP_adress
mount
application

Resolution

This works as designed at the moment. There are plans to implement "ordered false" in the future, but no ETA is given at the moment.
This is the behaviour of heartbeat version 1 groups, which are atomic and by default colocated and ordered. It was inherited by heartbeat 2 for compatibility reasons.
