Environment

SUSE Manager 2.1

Situation

The SUSE Manager database control tool "smdba space-overview" is used to get a report about occupied table spaces. It is reporting more than 100% use of occupied table space, while 'df' of the filesystem where the archive logs are stored in still shows enough disk space. For example:

# smdba space-overview
SUSE Manager Database Control. Version 1.5.2

Tablespace | Size (Mb) | Avail (Mb) | Use %
------------+-----------+------------+--------
postgres | 6 | 14245 | 0.042
susemanager | 9614 | 4636 | 207.364

# df -lP /var/lib/pgsql Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on /dev/mapper/exampleVG-LVroot 39144896 22875536 14282800 62% /

Resolution

The SUSE Manager 2.1 update released August 2016 includes the smdba package, smdba-1.5.4-0.12.2 with the patch to resolve the problem.

Cause

The percentage of the database usage was calculated on the wrong value from the 'df' (disk file system usage) command.
