YAST is not showing interfaces but ifconfig does. The network is working.

Environment
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4 (SLES 11 SP4)
Situation
ifconfig shows the interfaces and bindings
hwinfo --netcard also shows working network cards and drivers
pinging the default gateway proves that packets are being sent and received.
Checking the network status displays this error:
#/etc/init.d/network status
Checking optional network interfaces:
eth0 Warning: ifcfg-eth0 modifies interface type from 'eth' to 'qeth'.
Please open a bug report.
You may also see this same error in the /var/log/boot.msg file or the /var/log/messages file.
Resolution
INTERFACETYPE='qeth'
Remove 'qeth' so that the line in each ifcfg-eth? file looks like this:
INTERFACETYPE=
The server does not need to be rebooted.
