acpid.service failed to start after upgrade from SLES 11 SP4 to SLES 15

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15 SP2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15 SP1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 11 SP4

Situation

During system boot the following error message is observed

LSB: Listen and dispatch ACPI events from the kernel

This appears to indicate that acpid has failed to start.
When checking for any failed services using the command below, this indeed reveals that acpid.service is listed as failed.

systemctl -list-units --failed

Resolution

Remove the acpid package from the system :

rpm -e acpid

Cause

ACPID is no longer used, this was on oversight and no task has been created to remove it automatically during upgrade.
