amavis.service failed to start after upgrade from SLES 11 SP4 to SLES 15

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15 SP2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15 SP1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 11 SP4

Situation

During system boot there is a error message

Amavisd-new Virus Scanner interface failed

When checking for failed services with command

systemctl -list-units --failed

there is the amavis.service listed as failed.

Resolution

run once command

sa-update

afterward the service can be started again.

Cause

The version jump for amavis is to big between SLES 11 and SLES 15, so once a manual trigger is needed.
