SLE10 SP1 based products fail to boot properly on HP P400 SAS Controller

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 Support Pack 1

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Support Pack 1

Situation

After the initial installation the system boots from hard disk to continue with the configuration of the SLE10 SP1 installation. The boot process stops with the message:

ERROR: Invalid Optcode

Resolution

Please update the firmware of the HP P400 SAS controller to version 4.12.
