SLES10 Install Fails with LVM/EVMS Volumes

This document (3509004) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

A SLES install seems to hang or gives an error when the install has LVM or EVMS volumes configured for installation.

Resolution

The true tag has changed to CT_LVM. If the CT_LVM tag is missing, then the install will fail because the default type if CT_DISK, which means a normal disk install.

A similar change for EVMS wherehas changed to CT_EVMS.

For example, if you were installing a disk that had LVM volumes, use something likethis:

/dev/vg00
true

true
reiser
true
lvol3
/
device
+1G

4M
CT_LVM
all
