This document (7003321) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.
Environment
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1
Situation
suse_register command fails to authenticate when an intermediate CA cert is requried
Resolution
Steps to fix:
- Copy the CA or intermediate CA certificate to /etc/ssl/certs
- Back up /usr/share/curl/curl-ca-bundle.crt
- Run the following where CERT is the name of the CA or intermediate CA certificate
cat /etc/ssl/certs/CERT >> usr/share/curl/curl-ca-bundle.crt
- Run suse_register
SUSE does not support modifying the client4SMT.sh script. However, advanced users familiar with shell scripting can modify client4SMT.sh to fetch an updated curl-ca-bundle.crt. If you have trouble with modify the client4SMT.sh script, SUSE will not be able to help.
- Put the updated curl-ca-bundle.crt on a webserver
- To the top of client4SMT.sh, add something similiar to the following
wget http://$2/curl-ca-bundle.crt
mv /usr/share/curl/curl-ca-bundle.crt /usr/share/curl-ca-bundle-`date +%Y%m%d-%R:%S:%N`.bk
mv curl-ca-bundle.crt /usr/share/curl/curl-ca-bundle.crt - Save the file
- If using the script example, run the the client4SMT.sh with the -host SERVER, where SERVER is the name off the server.
