Applying certain patches fails with "rpm not found on medium"

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.3
SUSE Manager 4.2

Situation

Attempting to apply patches on clients fails for certain packages with the following errors.  An excerpt:

Resolution

Incorrect permissions exist on some of the package subdirectories under "/var/spacewalk/packages/NULL/".  Permissions should be corrected using chmod.  Proper permissions are:
drwxr-xr-x 3 wwwrun www
