Fresh Install of SLES 10 Doesn't Boot
This document (3631545) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.
Environment
Situation
After a fresh install of SLES 10 on PPC or Mac, the system doesn't boot. Booting off of the Install CD and choosing Boot Installed System from the Other menu allows the system to boot. Further investigation shows the needed yaboot partition is either missing or misconfigured.
Resolution
1- Boot CD1 with 'install start_shell', then use pdisk to initialize the disk and create the Apple_partition map.
2- After the install, run 'parted /dev/hda set 2 boot on' to make the partition bootable.
If the yaboot partition is intact, the partition label and type may need to be changed:
1- After the install, run 'parted /dev/hda set 2 boot on' to make the partition bootable.
