Additional Information
The SMT server service will add CPU, network bandwidth and storage requirements. Depending on how many repositories are being synchronized, the storage required can be many hundreds of Gigabytes and the SMT sync-cycle can run for quite some time. Considerable network traffic can also be incurred in relation to the patching of any clients that are registered to the SMT server service running on a SLES for SAP server.
Please note that this technical document is providing information related to using a server running SAP software as an SMT server host. This document does not discuss the patching of a server running SAP software using SMT (where the server running SAP software is an SMT client).
