Lifecycle Policies do not remove any files anymore from certain buckets

This document (000021234) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Enterprise Storage 7.1

Situation

Policies are configured to remove files after 1 day, but files older than this are still present in certain buckets.

Resolution

As a workaround set the rgw_lc_lock_max_time configuration parameter to the "magic" value "9969", for example:

radosgw-admin lc process --rgw_lc_lock_max_time=9969

Cause

The output of the command "radosgw-admin lc list" show for the problematic buckets the "started" field with a strange time in future, for example:

"bucket": "<bucket_name>",
"started": "Mon, 22 Oct 2085 00:25:23 GMT",
"status": "UNINITIAL"

Resulting in the process thread skipping these buckets thus showing the status "UNINITIAL". It is not known how the date got set to this future time.
