Product Description
The new PRIMERGY BX620 S3 server blade provides several future oriented technologies in case of processor (dual core), memory (FBD, extended mirroring), storage (modular storage controller configuration) and 2.5 inch SAS or SATA hard disk drives. Based on those capabilities the PRIMERGY BX620 S3 enables customers to run larger applications compared to existing PRIMERGY BX600 Dual Server Blades. With its new modular design for different requirements, the customer can create specific configurations in combination with SAS or SATA hard disks to meet different usage scenarios. For example a customer can create a low cost platform with SATA hard disk and the SATA storage module or featured platform with SAS hard disks and a SAS storage module, which can take up a PCI Express card in addition. For high demands regarding security a SAS storage module with RAID1 and Cache/iTBBU is offered. All those configurations can be established very easy in the factory or in the field, because the different storage modules come with an intelligent mounting cage for the server blade front.

Config Notes
- Serial/USB/VGA port(s): provided through KVM connector console breakout cable which supplies one RS232 serial port, one VGA port and two USB ports. The system also has one internal USB port.
- Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Hard Disk Configuration: single disk JBOD. The "Device model" selected for the SLES guest virtual network adapter during testing was e1000, instead of the default virtio.
- Kdump (SLE15): the crash kernel reserved memory parameters were increased from the default to crashkernel=273M,high crashkernel=162M,low using YaST.
- VM Driver Pack: All guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES drivers are included with the OS. The Windows Server 2016 drivers are available from http://download.suse.com (VMDP-WIN-2.5.exe), the virtio network drivers were used during testing.
- SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to a SLES 15 guest. One of the integrated Lenovo CN4052 10Gb Virtual Fabric adapters was used in this testing.
