Oracle's Sun Blade™ X6270 M2 Server Module: Powered by the Intel® Xeon® Processor E5620, the Oracle Sun Blade X6270 M2 server module helps customers scale their compute resources without adding complexity. The Oracle Sun Blade X6270 server module leverages PCIe2 and SAS2 technologies to provide up to 282Gb/s of ultra fast I/O bandwidth. With its 18 DIMM slots and four drive bays this two socket blade server offers streamlined management, enhanced performance, and energy efficiency to run the most demanding workloads including Web, enterprise, database, grid and virtualization.

Config Notes

PCI Network Pass-Through: System was tested using PCI pass-through where the network adapter was given to one of the SLES 11 SP3 x86-64 guests. One of the embedded Intel® Ethernet Controller I350-AM4 adapters was used in this testing.
Maintenance update: SLES 11 SP3 Xen maintenance update slessp3-xen-201310-8479 is required and was installed during certification testing.
VM Driver Pack: All guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES 11 SP3 drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 drivers are available from http://download.novell.com (VMDP-WIN-2.1.exe).
Integrated network: only two of the four ethernet adapters/ports on the I350-AM4 quad-port network controller are enabled on this system.
Install: System installed using external USB connected DVD drive; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration.
Hard Disk Configuration: RAID 1.
