The IBM® System x3630 M4 server offers a cost-effective high-capacity storage solution with exceptional energy-smart design, leadership virtualization, and powerful systems management. It supports up to two Intel® Xeon® processors and high-density memory designs with twelve DDR3 DIMM slots. This 2U server consolidates storage and server into one system, offers easy management, and saves floor space and power consumption, costing less money than traditional enterprise offerings. Designed with redundancy, flexible subsystems, and a wide range of configuration options, the x3630 M4 also offers an innovative Feature on Demand (FoD) design for an easier upgrade path.

Config Notes

Serial/USB/VGA port(s): provided through KVM connector console breakout cable which supplies one RS232 serial port, one VGA port and two USB ports. The system also has one internal USB port. Hard disk configuration: RAID 1.
Installation Kit: The lenovo_servers_thinksystem-sle12sp2-x86_64-1.0.iso installation kit is SUSE SolidDriver Program compliant. This installation kit must be downloaded and used to start the SLES installation. To obtain the installation kit go to: https://drivers.suse.com/lenovo/Lenovo-ThinkSystem/sle-12-sp2-x86_64/1.0/.
SR-IOV: System was tested using SR-IOV where a virtual network adapter was given to the SLES 12 SP2 FV guest. One of the integrated Ethernet Connection X722 (Dual-Port) for 10GBASE-T adapters was used in this testing.
