Product Description

The Flex System x440 Compute Node is a price-performance optimized 4-socket with a wide range of processors, memory, and I/O options to help you match system capabilities and cost to workloads without compromise. With a dense design, the Flex System x440 Compute Node can help reduce floor space used, and lower data center power and cooling costs.

Config Notes
- Install: System installed via network PXE UEFI boot; the OS was installed using the UEFI boot loader and system configuration. Hard Disk Configuration: RAID 0.
- VM Driver Pack: All FV guests were tested with PV drivers installed. The SLES 11 SP3 and SLES 12 drivers are included with the OS. The Windows 2012 R2 drivers are available from http://download.suse.com (VMDP-WIN-2.1.exe).
- PCI Network Pass-Through: System was tested using PCI pass-through where one of the host network adapters was given to the SLES 12 FV guests. One of the embedded IBM Dual-Port 10GB Virtual Fabric Ethernet LOM adapters was used in this testing.
- Xen Hypervisor: the hypervisor was booted with following additional parameters: dom0_mem=4G dom0_max_vcpus=4.
- Serial/USB/VGA port(s): provided through KVM connector console breakout cable which supplies one RS232 serial port, one VGA port and two USB ports. The system also has one internal USB port.
