SUSE® today announced the session line-up and major topics to be discussed at SUSECon, September 18-21, 2012, at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, FL. SUSE is bringing together 20 years of institutional experience, knowledgeable experts, partnerships with industry-leading technology vendors, and customer relationships to deliver a comprehensive agenda for SUSECon with tangible value. Additionally, the Linux Professional Institute will be on-site to offer attendees Linux certification testing.
The conference agenda includes future-focused business presentations, case studies, technical tutorials and hands-on lab demonstrations from Dell, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, OpenStack, Shelter Mutual Insurance Company, SUSE, University of Oxford and many more. Session tracks will bring together the collective knowledge and advice SUSE has mastered from its two decades of industry experience to cover the following trends in Linux:
- Enterprise Linux / Linux in the Data Center
- Cloud Technology and Cloud Infrastructure
- Linux Systems Management
In addition to learning about and experiencing the latest developments in enterprise-class Linux, SUSE is providing technical training courses to help attendees advance their knowledge and take advantage of onsite testing being offered by the Linux Professional Institute. The LPI will be onsite to provide LPIC-1 and CLA certification testing from Sept. 18-21.
"We are pleased that SUSE supports LPI as the most widely recognized and accepted Linux certification by inviting us to SUSECon," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI. "Linux professionals that achieve LPIC-1 and CLA status are equipped to address diverse data center requirements with technical skill and confidence."
"SUSE was built upon the premise of community and collaboration. The SUSECon agenda was built so attendees can get the most value from their experience – networking with fellow SUSE users, partners and customers, while also improving their careers via the testing made available from the Linux Professional Institute," said Michael Miller, vice president of global alliances and marketing, SUSE.
On September 2, 1992, SUSE was founded by three software engineers with the idea to distribute Linux and offering support; thereby establishing the primary business model used in the open source industry today. Celebrating its 20th year in business this September, SUSE will host a gala on September 20. The event will celebrate the company's past, present and future. Attendees will have the chance to meet SUSE's original founders, its President and General Manager Nils Brauckmann, and organizations with long-time ties to the technology industry including Intel, the cornerstone sponsor of SUSECon.
"As SUSE celebrates its 20th anniversary, Intel marks the occasion by renewing its commitment to advance innovation through open source. Through our collaboration, Intel and SUSE have consistently delivered the performance, scalability, and security that customers need in mission-critical and cloud computing environments," said Doug Fisher, vice president, Intel Software and Services Group and general manager, System Software Division. "We look forward to continuing to help SUSE deliver robust, open computing solutions to enterprises around the globe."
