oracle resource agent fails silently to start Database (COROSYNC)

This document (7012627) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11 Service Pack 1
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11 Service Pack 2

Situation

After setting up a cluster with an Oracle 11gR2 Database and configuring the Resource Agent to control the Database everything seems fine. But the Database is actually not working.

Connecting with sqlplus reports the Database not running.

There is no indication in the cluster logfiles why this is happening or what is missing.

Resolution

To solve this compare the settings of

   oracle_home

in the Cluster Resource Agent and in the environment for the Database Owner/Administrator.

They have to be 100% identical, including any possible "/" at the end of the path.
