Gnome-panel won't start when run through NX session

This document (7003544) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 (SLED 11)
gnome-panel-2.24.1-12.20.1
FreeNX or NX Server

Situation

Gnome-panel won't start when run through NX session.

The program 'gnome-panel' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
(Details: serial 112 error_code 1 request_code 150 minor_code 8)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Resolution

Current workaround is to downgrade to gnome-panel-2.24.1-12.19 which is the version included on the original SLED 11 DVD.
