Environment
Situation
and /etc/udev/rules.d/30-net_persistent_names.rules
make reference to /etc/udev/rules.d/31-net_create_names.rules.
In README.Persistent_Interface_Names:
If there is no such rule, because this interface was registered
the first time, rename_netiface will be called from a generic rule in
/etc/udev/rules.d/31-net_create_names.rules.
In /etc/udev/rules.d/30-net_persistent_names.rules:
# generation. Only if all interfaces get a rule the renaming will work
# flawlessly. See also /etc/udev/rules.d/31-net_create_names.rules.
The file /etc/udev/rules.d/31-net_create_names.rules doesn't exist anymore.
The file was renamed to /etc/udev/rules.d/31-network.rules according to the
sysconfig ChangeLog.
Resolution
The sysconfig documentation was corrected and a future sysconfig update will refer to the correct file /etc/udev/rules.d/31-network.rules.
The SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3 sysconfig-0.50.9-13.56.17 includes the corrected documentation.
